One of our key programs is our free boutique which is completely run by volunteers.
We accept a variety of donations from the community of clothing, household goods, toys, and all sorts of other items. Our volunteers sort through the items to ensure that they are of acceptable quality and put them on display in our free boutique where people can “shop” for the things they need free of charge. Our boutique is especially handy in the cold months, as we are able to provide winter coats, socks, gloves, toques, and warm clothing all free of charge. These donations are also used in our housing support program, to help our clients create a space that feels like home.

One of the key programs we offer is our food recovery program. Our food recovery program aims to ensure that nutritious meals are made available to anyone in the community who needs them, and allows individuals and families to have access to nutritious hot meals.
We serve approximately 200 meals each week day, and about 50-100 meals on Sundays. Last year, we served over 57,000 meals. We call it the food “recovery” program, because it’s fueled by food that has been “recovered” in the community. We do have a small grocery budget of about $800 a month, but most of the food we prepare is donated by local organizations.

Our Housing Support Program supports individuals and families in our community who are experiencing homelessness, or at immediate risk of experiencing homelessness. In addition to compiling and providing a list of affordable rentals, the housing team works directly with, and advocates for, our community’s most vulnerable individuals. The team provides direct support in various areas such as finances, shopping, medical appointments, and aiding in crises.

Throughout the year Carmichael Outreach hosts a variety of special events and fundraisers to create a better future for the community. None of our special events would be possible without the hard work of our volunteers!
