There may be snow on the ground, but summer is just around the corner! We are currently inviting student applications for an Administrative Support Summer Student. This position works in collaboration with the Communications, Advocacy, and Projects Officer and reports to the Executive Director. Per the Government of Canada Summer Jobs requirements, the successful applicant for this position must be between the ages of 15 and 30, and must be returning to full time studies in Fall 2018.
We are a community based organization that provides services to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to filing, data entry, supporting fundraising events, writing letters, and covering the front desk. This position may also be responsible for other duties within Carmichael Outreach as necessary.
Priority will be given but not limited to students who are studying in the area of business administration, office administration, or human services. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate excellent communications skills, oral and written, and the ability to work under pressure with tight timelines. The applicant will have experience with Microsoft Office Word and Excel. A driver’s license is required. A demonstrated understanding of the complexities of poverty, particularly intergenerational poverty, the impacts or residential school and colonialism, as well as addictions and mental health issues are a must.
