2020 Tournament of Hope Cancellation Notice

Due to the uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, the 2020 Merrill Brinton Tournament of Hope will not be moving forward as previously planned. While the traditional tournament has been cancelled, we will instead host a virtual fundraising tournament that will take place over the course of the summer.

How will this work?

Participation in the virtual tournament is simple! All you have to do is golf a regular 18 hole game at your course of choice. If you are happy with your score, fill out the attached Virtual Tournament Registration Form and send your scorecard and a registration fee of minimum $30 to Carmichael Outreach, and your score will be entered! Easy peasy.

You can submit as many scorecards as you’d like. Scores will be weighed based on the difficulty of the holes, and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 scores. All we ask is that you please respect the honour system!

To make it even more fun, you can post a photo from your game onto social media with the hashtag #TOH2020! We will share some of the best photos on our website and social media, and one lucky photo will win a prize.

How will this affect sponsors?

We are so grateful to all of our friends and partners who have already agreed to sponsor the tournament, and we do not want this generosity to go unrecognized! We will work with each individual sponsor to ensure that their generosity is recognized properly through our social media and website, on promotional materials, and other creative and flexible options like onsite video interviews, logo recognition at Carmichael Outreach, thank-you letters to display in your own offices, gift bags, or other options.

Are there other ways to get involved?

Do you want to show your support, but aren’t interested in golfing? There are other ways to get involved! You can make a donation or pledge a golfer online through the Tournament of Hope page on our website, or by mailing a cheque payable to Carmichael Outreach.

We will also be hosting an online silent auction through our Facebook page, where you can bid on plenty of amazing items, and are working on hosting an online 50/50 raffle, so stay tuned for details on that! All updates will be posted on our Tournament of Hope Facebook Event.

How can I learn more?

If you have questions, would like to sponsor the virtual tournament, or would like to donate a silent auction item or prize, please contact Carmichael Outreach by email at summeradmin@carmichaeloutreach.ca

The Merrill Brinton Tournament of Hope is dear to our hearts, and is such an important fundraiser for us at Carmichael. Because we do not receive a lot of government funding, we rely on fundraisers and donations from our friends in the community in order to keep our doors open. Thank you to MNP, Miller Thomson, and all of our sponsors and golfers who have continued to show support during this new and challenging time. We look forward to a brighter future, and hope that we can come back bigger and better than ever in 2021.

REGINA, SK. JUNE 22, 2020 – Grammy nominated artist, Brian Sklar, and the Tex Pistols will be performing a live social distance concert in support of the LEAN ON ME Project and the fight to reduce food insecurity in our community. The performance will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Brewed Awakening East.

The LEAN ON ME Project was developed in an effort to fight food insecurity, a problem that has grown with the COVID-19 pandemic. In partnership with Carmichael Outreach, Howlers Rugby Club, and Deveraux Group of Companies, Brewed Awakening has been collecting donations in their coffee shops in order to provide meals to those in our community who are experiencing poverty and homelessness.

“Millions of Canadians spend their days not knowing where their next meal is going to come from, and Regina is not unique,” says Carmichael Outreach’s Acting Executive Director, Rochelle Berenyi, “The LEAN ON ME Project has helped our organization face the challenge of food insecurity, and has seen support from so many members of the community. The team behind this project is so passionate and dedicated, and our organization is so grateful to be a part of it.”

June 24 will mark the sixth week of the LEAN ON ME Project, with different musicians performing live social distance mini-concerts every Wednesday morning. Brian Sklar, the only artist from Saskatchewan ever nominated for a Grammy, is excited to be a part of this project.
